Worm Gearbox
A worm gearbox with a crank was designed to manually actuate a pool lift. To adhere to the project specifications it was necessary to significantly reduce the weight and size of the gearbox, this was primarily achieved by using a mutilated worm wheel.
One of the main points of the design was for the housing to limit the gear to a 90 degree range of rotation as well as serving as a built-in stop mechanism.
